Financial Advisors in Dallas, TX for Executives and Business Owners
Fee-only fiduciary financial planning for Dallas professionals whose compensation is more complicated than a paycheck, built by a two-advisor firm with nothing to sell you but advice.
Your Goals, Within Reach.
Good Income Is Not the Same Thing as a Plan
Dallas produces a specific kind of financial problem. You're earning well, the balances look healthy, and nobody has ever sat down and told you whether it adds up to the retirement you're picturing.
Part of that is structural. The region now hosts 24 Fortune 500 and 49 Fortune 1000 headquarters, the fourth-largest concentration of any U.S. metro, which means a great many Dallas households hold compensation that a standard retirement calculator simply can't process. Restricted stock that vests on a schedule. Deferred compensation with election deadlines. Options with a tax consequence attached to the exercise date. Or a business that represents most of your net worth and has no plan for what happens when you stop running it.
Those aren't investment questions. They're planning questions, and they get answered before we discuss a portfolio. Our
wealth management work handles the investment side once the plan defines what the investments are for, and where taxes are the dominant issue,
Power of Zero repositioning usually saves more than any allocation change.
What an Independent Fiduciary Changes for a Dallas Household
We're a registered investment adviser with no parent company and no proprietary products, so there's no house recommendation.
Fee-only compensation means our advice isn't priced differently depending on which one you take.
Concentrated employer stock gets unwound on a schedule with the tax impact modeled first.
Business owners get the exit and the retirement plan built as one document rather than two.
Every cost appears in writing before work starts, from the three options on our fees and pricing page.
A Two-Advisor Firm, Which Is the Whole Point
Who you'll actually be working with
Hector Hinojosa has worked in financial services since 1995 and has held the CFP® certification since 2001, which means he has advised Dallas-area families through the dot-com collapse, 2008, and 2020. His son Josh Hinojosa, an Investment Advisor Representative, works alongside him.
There are two of us. That caps how many households we can take, and we'd rather stay small than hand you to whoever picks up the phone. If you want an advisor who knows your kid's name and your vesting schedule without opening a file, that's the trade this structure makes.
We're headquartered in Fort Worth and work with clients across Dallas and the wider Metroplex, in person or remotely, whichever you actually prefer. Our sister-market practice is on our
Fort Worth page.
Our Services Make Retirement Simple (And Maybe Even Fun)
No Two Dreams Are the Same. That's Why We Offer:
The full picture in writing, covering cash flow, equity compensation, taxes, insurance, and estate needs, with an action checklist you can work through.
Portfolios built around your goals and time horizon, with deliberate attention to concentrated positions and to the years immediately surrounding retirement.
Modeling what claiming at 62, at full retirement age, or at 70 does to your lifetime income, and how the choice interacts with the rest of your tax picture.
Getting the enrollment timing right and understanding how retirement income affects your premiums two years down the line.
What Dallas Clients Ask First
How do I find a fee-only fiduciary financial advisor in Dallas, Texas?
Ask two questions and get the answers in writing: are you a fiduciary at all times, and can you receive any compensation from a third party for what you recommend. Fee-only means paid by clients and only by clients, and any advisor who qualifies that answer is telling you something. We publish all three of our fee options rather than making anyone ask.
I'm a Dallas business owner. Can you help with more than my personal investments?
Yes, and for most owners the two can't be separated. Your business is usually the largest asset in the plan, so the retirement plan depends on what happens to it, whether that's a sale, a transition to family, or a wind-down. We build the personal plan around that reality rather than treating the business as a footnote.
Most of my compensation is in company stock. What should I do with it?
Not decide in one move. We look at what percentage of your net worth sits in one company, what the tax cost of diversifying looks like, and whether trading windows or blackout periods constrain your timing. Then we build a schedule to reduce the concentration deliberately rather than all at once.
Do you meet with Dallas clients in person?
Yes. Our office is in Fort Worth, and we meet Dallas clients in person or by video depending on what's easier for you. Most clients end up doing a mix, and neither option changes the service.
How is SWAN DFW different from a large firm with a Dallas office?
At a large firm the advisor you meet is often not the person managing your account, and the product menu is shaped by the firm. Here there are two advisors, no product menu, and no one above us setting a sales target. That's not better for everyone, but it's very different.
Are your fees negotiable, and what isn't included?
The published schedule is the schedule, and the reason we publish it is so nobody has to negotiate their way to a fair number. Third-party costs like fund expense ratios and custodian charges are separate from our fee and are disclosed before you engage us.
Income Is Not a Plan. Let's Build the Plan.
Bring us your vesting schedule, your 401(k) statement, and whatever's been nagging at you, and we'll tell you where you actually stand. The first conversation is complimentary and carries no obligation.
