Dallas–Fort Worth Wealth Management That Grows and Defends What You've Built

Fiduciary investment management for Metroplex households inside ten years of retirement, built around the risk that matters most at this stage, a bad market arriving right as the paychecks stop.

Built for the Decade That Decides Everything

Wealth management in Dallas–Fort Worth gets sold as growth. For a retiree or pre-retiree, growth is only half the job.

The risk that does real damage isn't a bad decade, it's a bad two years in the wrong place. A sharp drop just before or just after you stop working forces you to sell into weakness to fund living expenses, and that sequence is what permanently shrinks a portfolio. So we build diversified portfolios designed to participate in upside while limiting how much a single stretch of bad markets can cost you.

That focus shapes who we work with. Most of our clients are within a decade of retirement or already in it, and a meaningful number are DFW professionals carrying large positions in a single employer's stock.

  • Portfolios are custom-built around your goals, risk tolerance, and time horizon, not slotted into a model.
  • Retirement income planning coordinates withdrawals with Social Security timing, pensions, and IRAs.
  • Tax-efficient investing uses asset location and tax-loss harvesting, which matters more in Texas where there's no state income tax to plan around.
  • Concentrated employer stock gets unwound deliberately, with the tax consequence mapped before anything is sold.
  • Reviews happen at least quarterly, and sooner when your life or the market changes.

As a fiduciary wealth manager, we're paid by our clients rather than by the products we recommend, and every option is published on our fees and pricing page. Where taxes are the bigger lever, we bring in Power of Zero planning, and where guaranteed income has a genuine role, we evaluate annuities as one tool among several rather than a destination.

The Questions Retirees Actually Ask Us

  • What's the difference between wealth management and financial planning?

Financial planning produces the roadmap, covering goals, cash flow, taxes, insurance, and estate needs. Wealth management is the ongoing execution of the investment portion of that roadmap, including portfolio construction, rebalancing, and withdrawal sequencing. Most households approaching retirement need both, which is why we don't sell them as separate relationships.

  • How does SWAN DFW manage investment risk?

We manage it through diversification, deliberate asset allocation matched to your time horizon, and by keeping near-term spending needs out of volatile assets. For clients close to retirement we pay particular attention to sequence-of-returns risk, meaning the order in which returns arrive rather than the average. That's the difference between a plan that survives a bad first year of retirement and one that doesn't.

  • I'm five years from retiring and most of my money is in my 401(k). What changes?

The work shifts from accumulating to sequencing. We look at which accounts you'll draw from and in what order, how that interacts with Social Security timing and Medicare premiums, and whether any of it should be repositioned before required minimum distributions start at 73. Decisions made in these years tend to be worth more than decisions made in your forties.

  • Can you help with concentrated stock or employer shares?

Yes, and it comes up often with DFW professionals holding large positions in a single company. We help you diversify on a deliberate schedule, manage the tax impact of unwinding, and decide how much single-company exposure your plan can actually tolerate.

  • How do you handle a client who wants to be more aggressive than the plan suggests?

We say so directly and show the math on what a bad sequence would do to the income the plan is meant to produce. Then it's your money and your call. Being a fiduciary means giving you our honest read, not overriding you.

  • What happens if I already have investments somewhere else?

We start with a complimentary review of what you hold, what it costs you, and whether it lines up with what you've told us you want. Sometimes the answer is that your existing setup is fine and you don't need us. We'd rather tell you that than manage assets we can't improve.
